As a tourist who loves a market, I wouldn’t recommend this one. Not even for the ‘witchy’ bit at the back which was just candles and weird potions, same in stall after stall. It was so busy (apparently is all week) and claustrophobic as lanes between stalls very narrow. Felt very unfriendly from vendors and locals, not welcoming and smiley like loads of the other markets we visited. The area is hard to get to as it’s just full on traffic until closing time and apparently not a very safe area for a tourist but we wanted to experience it. A lot of the stalls were exactly the same. Loads of plastic party tat and incense stalls. We were here close Halloween and Day of the Dead so all themed on this. Worst thing about this market is the fact it sells live animals. There were around 30 kittens in one cramped cage and some not responsive. No water in any of the cages. We saw the woman pick up 6 tiny chihuahua puppies at once just by their legs and they were all crying with the pain. If I could save all these puppies I would and it left me heartbroken. It’s sad Mexico City still allows this to happen. Just don’t bother! Smelly, busy and sad.

This is a historic, wonderful and unique market of Mexico City. It is a one-storied market with tiny stalls and narrow corridor. The most interesting and unique portion is situated at its rear end where the stalls are selling elements of witchcraft, small religious figures, figurine of deities, demi Gods, potion etc. in one corner and various herbs, pet animals on the other side. The other parts of the market are also frequented by local people, as well as some foreigners. The stores sell cheap household items, souvenir and clothes.

One of my favorite markers to visit in cdmx. They have tons of cool crystals, cool mystic things, clothes, candles, food, and anything else you could ever imagine. Being a traveler this is a cool cultural experience if you want to really see a true Mercado. Be warned, they have an animal section and if you’re very sensitive to these types of things I would avoid that part, But I see it as a cultural experience so I don’t Judge. One of my must see markets.

It’s a beautiful market with many sections. Flowers, Party stuffs, grocery and food stalls. I really enjoy a lunch there and then wander about to see other section, then get some food before heading home. Love it!

Great neighborhood in CDMX. Freida Kahlo muesum (make a reservation). Wonderful vibrant colors on the buildings, restaurants and bars, plus great street food of course. Inside the market there are tons of sit down real/local Mexican food places! There was an outdoor artisans market (Sunday). Just all around fun and a must visit.

I am so happy I had the opportunity to visit this market. There were so many shops and cafes inside, it was so hard to decide which direction to go and explore. We ended up accomplishing multiple goals... we purchased a couple alebrijes (brightly colored, folk art sculptures of magical creatures), tried some delicious food, and most importantly, I got my fix of esquites (Mexican street corn). Don't miss this gem of a place. The entire Coyoacan neighborhood is colorful, beautiful, and safe to walk around in. The people are so incredibly loving and kind.

When going to Coyoacán visit its market, if you want to eat delicious tacos and even try insects such as scorpions with chocolate. My favorite stores inside

Great food! We went during the week and it was a little slower. I can only imagine if that market was completely packed!! We missed the boat rides but I heard they are a blast

This is a must if you are in the area, I have never seen so much fresh meat and veggies. The produce here looks amazing. I only wish I could take some of this food back home.

A few disclaimers - be ready for all the over stimulation. Very packed market and can be easy to get lost. Lots of moving parts but a wonderful place for delicious food. Had the best tamales inside!

This is a labryth of love and commerce, get lost in it and find happiness trying to escape. I suggest you start with the chorizo verde.

Delicious Street food, but can be daunting to navigate. Mc teo is a good entry on Google maps to navigate to the correct section for food, otherwise you can easily get lost.

This is an authentic food market where you can find delicious, inexpensive produce, meats, and in my case, amazing varieties of tacos. I enjoyed the birria, as well as the Barbacoa tacos especially. The vendors are very friendly as well :)

Wow, Christmas is a very busy time of year, driving looked impossible (was bicycle riding). Lots of everything in the mercado and on the streets around. Keep your head on a swivel.

A must-stop when in CDMX! I first went to this market in 2016 and can't wait to return! Walls of shoes of all types from floor to ceiling...and best part - the prices!! Just like the Callejones in Downtown Los Angeles, watch your stuff and your surroundings.

Large selection of all types of shoes, some are manufactured by the very people there and most shoes are immitation . The area is known for being very unsafe. There are a lot of people and haggling is a must. Salesmen are really pushy to buy but that's expected. Payment is only by cash. I would not recommend going.

A Mexican inspired market but with a European twist. Incredible food stalls with fresh produce, meats and seafood. You can dine directly from one of the many stalls. Worth a visiting when in the area. There even a Mezcal and Tequila stall where you can do a tasting tour and get a great education on both types of liquors. I will be posting in another review the tour I took along with the incredible seafood experience all from the same local market.

Cool market with some absolutely delicious food. Avoid the butcher section and the seafood section if you faint seeing blood. I was in for a shock of how graphic it can get. But hey, it’s a market. I heard most meat was legal in here. Not sure what that exactly means but you should ask. Most folks speak English here. Don’t but the salsa, they will be confiscated at the airport lol. Mezcal tasting!

We were here on a tour from our cooking class chef. The chef Diana is on airbnb experience and has very in-depth knowledge of this market and seem to know everyone. We started at a coffee shop where we tried two different kind of coffee, and a concha bread. And then we moved to a vegetable stall where she explained to us the vegetables in mexican cuisine, and after that a fruit stall where we tried a bunch of the exotic fruits which we have never seen before. The next stall we tried different kinds of dried mole, a mezcal tasting and other ingredients. Highly recommend coming here with someone who knows this place to get the full experience.

A great indoor market if you are in the Roma area of CDMX. Can find venders selling everything from food, flowers, and everything in between. Not overly large so you can roam without getting lost. Also great place to eat a meal or snack

Very interesting place with a variety of Latin American food. (I was impressed by the Peruvian restaurant but unfortunately when I came back on Monday to taste some dishes, it was closed. Great variety of handcrafted beers. The place with handcrafted woodwork alebrijes (fantastic animals) it’s very interesting. Exotic fruits. Flowers and textiles. Worth a visit. We were there Sunday and Monday
